San Diego County Fair

OK, this one is no secret, but we do like to be inclusive. So just incase you weren’t aware, this fair happens early June to early July (exact dates found HERE) in Del Mar. If you crave crowds, food and dynamic atmosphere, this is the spot for you. Like a typical fair, this place is full of attractions, rides, games and exhibits. Divided into two parts, the Fun Zone has 40 different rides but if you want to excite your little ones, take them to the Kiddie Land and choose from 41 kids rides.

If you are health conscious like us, funnel cake is probably not a part of your daily diet. Being at a fair like this, however, constitutes, at least in my mind, a special occasion when it is OK to treat yourself. Besides the traditional “fair food” such as hot dogs, turkey legs or cotton candy, this place has a Rejuvenation Station on Wyland Way that offers fruit bowls, salads, naked juice, nuts and baked chips. To cool off in a hot summer day, James and I enjoyed a lovely home made strawberry lemonade.

To get the most out of the fair, check the schedule and see if there is anything that peaks your interest as the attractions vary from year to year. The food, rides, and games are always great but finding something that you or your date is particularly fond of will make the fair extra special.
