The ocean has always been magical to me. The sound, smell, and feel of it combine in a way that is unlike anything else I have experienced. Powerhouse Park is one of my favorite local beaches and I can tell you the perfect time to experience it.
Visit anytime between July llth 2010 and July 5th 2010 excluding June 14, 21, and 28. While everyone in the vicinity is enjoying the fair in Del Mar you can sneak away to this forgotten gem. During this time you can easily find a spot here that makes you feel like you have your own private beach. This surf has a lot of shallows which allows for some great pictures and wading.
During the summer they usually have a concert series which offers some great music. The park is large but does get pretty crowded so come early if you would like to get a nice spot to lay out your blanket.
Del Mar Village is within walking distance of the park and offers several restaurants and shops. This is a great spot to stroll, get to know someone, and catch a concert.
