The field overlooks the pacific coast which only adds to the visual presence of the flowers. Honestly this is just a beautiful place to go to be reminded of seasons. Here in the San Diego area we have so many things that we can do year round compared to other areas/climates. This is one of those treasures that you just have to do in the spring. Surely you have seen it on the news.
Parking is free but the lots get really full. Admission is $10 a person $9 if you are a AAA member. Plenty of food stands in the fields and you go leave to have lunch and come back just get your stamp.
Few tips.
Bring cash because…. Strawberry Shortcake and Italian Ice stands are cash only.
If coming from the south,when you exit from I-5 onto Palomar Airport Road, drive past the first light, head up to Armada Road and make a U-Turn from the left turn lane. You will be greeted with your own special “Flower Fields” exit lane and then proceed to the overflow lot below the American Flag flowers. You avoid a lot of traffic this way.
If you are fair skinned bring sunscreen.
Bring a tripod.
