Point Loma Sea Food
Fish and Chips anyone? Imagine a fresh, very authentic fish sandwich – flawless piece of juicy white fish fried into golden perfection between two slices of the softest sourdough bread (I know…I know, we normally do eat brown bread but this is a special occasion), the enticing smell of delicious onion rings … Yep, it was delicious! Ok, ok, if your arteries are screaming as you are reading this, you can always opt for a healthier choice – tuna sandwich, a shrimp salad or perhaps salmon sushi? Yummyyyy!
The place where you can get these and all other kinds of sea food delicacies is Point Loma Sea Food. The spot was quite different from what I pictured before we got there. I imagined a small restaurant where we sit at a small round table, me sipping wine in high heels, conversing with my husband over sushi. (Note: We got there at 5:00 pm on Friday and since they close at 6:30, the sushi bar was closed. Conclusion: if you want sushi, get there earlier).
Anyway, as I was saying, I think the confusion started before we left the house, when my husband said something along the line: “We can eat by the water”. I imagined a small restaurant with the tables by the water… No!
This place is an authentic FISH shop where you can buy anything from fish (many different kinds) through crab to shrimp, take it home and cook it OR order a prepared meal and eat it at one of the tables outside. They offer all kinds of drinks including many types of wine. The atmosphere, the style and the food brought one word to my mind: Authentic.
Mind you, my high heels were out of place. We ordered our sandwiches and onion rings; some freshly squeezed lemonade and headed back to our car. A few minutes later, a picnic table in the harbour provided a perfect spot for our feast. We ate, took some pictures and I told my husband (again, as I dug in the ground with my stilettos): “Next time I’ll bring flip flops!”
