A great way to start a Saturday Morning is to cook brunch together. Janka and I love to sleep in on Saturdays. When we do wake up, occasionally we will run over to one of the farmers markets and get some fresh produce. If we have slept in a little too long we might just go to our neighborhood Henry’s which is only a few blocks away.
After picking our food we select a playlist or pull up Pandora and select a few artist apiece. Being in our small kitchen together and working on our pieces of the meal always seems to help us come together. Our kitchen is a warm, nourishing place, we have created an atmosphere there that facilitates conversation. On Saturday mornings it is one of the happiest places in San Diego . We just chop, mix, juice, and clean as we go.
On this particular Saturday we chose a Henry’s run. The Menu was really light for a Saturday, simply Blue Berry Muffins (thanks David Vo for the inspiration), Spring Onion, tomato, and Turkey Omelet, Cantaloupe, and Mimosas. The playlist I choose was a mixture of R&B and Jazz including artist like Anita Baker, Roberta Flack, Anthony Hamilton, Kem, Jill Scoot, Yusef Lateef, Maxwell, and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. If you log into Pandora and use those artists to make a quickmix it sets a wonderful vibe.
Enjoy your Weekend!
