Friday night. After a busy week, we are quietly sitting on the couch, working on Wyatt cartoons and James&Janka blog. We haven’t talked about what we’ll have for dinner and even though we cook from scratch every night, no aroma is coming from the kitchen tonight. I haven’t even thought about it!

“Do you want to go for dinner somewhere?” James suddenly asks. Maybe it’s telepathy and he read my mind or he just might be hungry. In any case, I welcome the idea and feel special when he suggests we get Thai –my favourite cuisine. We get dressed and soon we are walking down Third Avenue. It’s a warm night, the streets are brightly lit and we chat and laugh as we approach the Mea Kwan Thain Cuisine.

Located downtown Chula Vista by the corner of Third and E, the cosy restaurant is buzzing with diners when we walk in. We are seated at the table by the windows, taking in the warm ambiance. After ordering our drinks, I stick with my regular Tofu Pad Thai noodles (I know, next time I will be more adventurous!). James goes for Chicken Spicy Green Bean and Beef Drunken noodles (also spicy but delicious!). When asked to choose the level of spiciness on the scale from one to ten, I challenge James to go for ten. In the end, he is glad he went with seven as his food is still pretty hot! But that’s how he likes it.

Everything from delicious food and helpful friendly staff, to soft music and pleasant atmosphere at the restaurant contribute to an enjoyable evening. As we take a slow walk home, I strike a few poses and we take a few pictures together. Spontaneously getting out for a casual dinner was a great opportunity to have a good conversation and focus on each other. What a lovely Friday night!
